Child Birthday Cakes

This is a BIG cake and will feed 60 people. The monkey face and flowers are fondant.

A one-year old has to have her own cake to smash!!

My first ever quincenara cake.

For my Civil War history buff. :-) One cake is white, one is chocolate. Both flags are authentically detailed after Civil War battle flags.

A 5-year-old "Princess" cake.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
This was for my own princess. The water is blue cellophane, and there are gummy fish "swimming" in it.

You can see the birthday plate I copied for this party in the bottom-right corner. I also make a separate decorated "mini-cake" for the birthday baby to smash!

The "dirt" on this cake is crushed Oreos. The boys thought the battle scene was pretty cool!

This cake served about 50-60 people.

The "black" frosting for the panda is actually a really fantastic dark chocolate frosting...this was one yummy cake! (the adults should enjoy it too :)

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

The Barbie is obviously not edible...but the dress is. Kids seem to love the chewy texture of fondant!

This was a pink strawberry cake...a bit sweet for me, but the kids always seem to like it.

Adult Birthday Cakes

A 75th Birthday deserves a big cake!! The bows and flowers are fondant. The 75 is a candle.

A classic carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.

This was for a family party celebrating a 30th birthday, Mother's day, and a 4th birthday all at once. The writing on the cake was poking fun at the combination...

The top tier of a 50th birthday cake...again, I forgot to take a picture of the whole thing! This was one of my favorite flavors...white cake with lemon filling and raspberries.

This is my favorite-best-in-the-world chocolate ganache cake. I love to do 3D designs in chocolate. (white and dark) The drawback is that they don't stand heat very well in the summer.
A 50th birthday cake for a crowd!

This birthday boy was about to go serve his first tour in Iraq. I made the letters out of chocolate before placing them on the cake.

Baby Shower Cakes

Definitely my largest baby shower cake...this served about 160 people. I was at a wedding a month previous and the bride had a beautiful chocolate wedding cake with pink Gerbera daisies in between...so fresh and original! I immediately knew what my next cake would look like. :)

I love cupcakes for showers! This is my home-made version of Hostess cupcakes...the centers are filled and I finished them with a delicious chocolate glaze. I stacked these serving plates at the shower, but forgot to take a picture!

This cake was used for a game...the guests had to guess how many times you could spell the word Baby with the blocks on the cake. (they were on the sides too)

One of my favorite Baby Boy shower cakes!

This was carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.

Winnie the Pooh makes a great theme when the gender of a baby is a mystery! The cake for the bear was made with a 3D Wilton Cake pan. This served 70 people.

Bridal Shower Cakes

This was a white cake filled with my signature mocha frosting. It served 40 people. Pick-up was the night before the shower, so I had to keep the fondant bow separate to keep it from getting limp. All the hostess had to do was peel it off of the waxed paper and place it on top of the cake before the shower. Peel'n'stick!

This is still one of my favorite cakes. I love the basket-weave technique, and I made the "leaves" around the strawberries by painting dark and white chocolate on the back of clean rose leaves and then peeling them off when hardened...so the veins from the real leaf were imprinted on the chocolate. If I remember correctly, this was a white cake with strawberry filling...perfect for the summer bridal shower!

I made this cake over five years ago. The colors aren't as popular anymore, but I like the over-all design of the cake. It would be stunning with a two-tone theme...maybe a dark frosting and white flowers.

Pride and Modesty

Wow...so I now have a blog! I've been encouraged for quite a while to set something up for my cakes...and here it is! I just want to apologize ahead of time to my friends for any self-promotion you may detect on here. This blog will be primarily for those who DON'T know me and have never tried my cakes...so I'll have to describe them as well as I can! Part of me is hesitant about that..."Let another man praise thee." But friends of friends may never meet a man that knows me and has tasted my cake. :) Anyway, I will be putting my entire portfolio on here soon...hopefully sooner than later.
